Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Blurred Bylines website at blurredbylines.com (“the Site”), including our editorial content and our SEO software tools (“the Tools”). By accessing or using the Site, you agree to these Terms.

Blurred Bylines is operated by Blurred Bylines, LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”).

The Site

Blurred Bylines provides two types of content:

  1. Editorial Content: Free, publicly accessible longform articles on a variety of topics. No account or payment is required to read these articles.
  2. SEO Tools: A suite of search engine optimization tools available through paid monthly subscriptions. These include tools for technical SEO audits, keyword research, SERP analysis, domain overviews and related functionality.

Accounts

To use our SEO Tools, you must create an account. When you create an account, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information
  • Keep your login credentials secure and not share them with others
  • Notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised
  • Accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account

Each account is for a single user. Sharing login credentials or allowing multiple people to use a single account is not permitted.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

Subscriptions and Billing

Subscription Plans

Our SEO Tools are available through the following monthly subscription plans:

  • DIY Website Audit
  • Keyword Intelligence
  • Competitive Edge
  • SMB SEO Toolkit Bundle

Prices are subject to change. We will notify existing subscribers before any price change takes effect on their next billing cycle.

Billing

  • Subscriptions are billed monthly on the anniversary of your sign-up date.
  • All payments are processed securely through Stripe (via WooPayments). We do not store your payment card information.
  • Applicable sales tax will be added based on your billing address.
  • You authorize us to charge your payment method on file for each billing cycle until you cancel.

Free Trials

If a free trial is offered, it will be clearly stated at the time of sign-up, including its duration. At the end of the trial, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid subscription unless you cancel before the trial ends.

Cancellation

  • You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account page.
  • Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You will retain access to the Tools until that date.
  • We do not provide prorated refunds for partial billing periods.

Refunds

If you believe you were charged in error, contact us at [email protected] within 14 days of the charge. We will review your request and issue a refund if appropriate.

Acceptable Use

When using our Site and Tools, you agree not to:

  • Use the Tools for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile or extract the source code of the Tools
  • Use automated scripts or bots to access the Tools beyond normal use
  • Resell, redistribute or sublicense access to the Tools
  • Scrape, copy or republish our editorial content without permission
  • Attempt to circumvent usage limits, access controls or security measures
  • Interfere with or disrupt the operation of the Site or its infrastructure
  • Use the Tools to harm, harass or violate the rights of others

We enforce usage limits on certain Tools (such as the number of scans per billing period).

These limits are described on the relevant product pages and are subject to change.

Intellectual Property

Our Content

All content on the Site, including articles, tool interfaces, software, graphics, logos and design, is owned by Blurred Bylines or its licensors and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.

You may not reproduce, distribute or create derivative works from our content without our written permission, except for personal, non-commercial use (such as sharing a link to an article).

Your Data

You retain ownership of any data you input into our Tools (such as URLs you submit for analysis). We do not claim ownership of your data. However, you grant us a limited license to process your inputs as necessary to provide the Tools’ functionality.

Analysis results generated by the Tools are provided for your use. You may use these results in your own reports and business activities.

Third-Party Services

Our Tools rely on third-party data providers (such as DataForSEO) to generate analysis results. While we strive for accuracy, we do not guarantee that data from third-party sources is complete, current or error-free.

Our Site also uses third-party services for payment processing (Stripe via WooPayments), email communications (Omnisend) and site security (Cloudflare). Your use of the Site is subject to the terms and privacy policies of these services.

Disclaimers

Editorial Content

Our articles are published for informational and educational purposes. While we strive for accuracy and thorough sourcing, our editorial content does not constitute professional advice (legal, medical, financial or otherwise).

SEO Tools

The Tools are provided “as is” and “as available.” We make no guarantees that:

  • The Tools will be available without interruption
  • Analysis results will be error-free or achieve specific outcomes
  • Use of the Tools will improve your search engine rankings

SEO results depend on many factors beyond our control. Our Tools provide data and insights to inform your decisions, but we do not guarantee specific search engine results.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Blurred Bylines, LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising from your use of the Site or Tools, including but not limited to loss of revenue, data or business opportunities.

Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the Site shall not exceed the total amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Blurred Bylines, LLC and their officers, employees and agents from any claims, damages or expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your violation of these Terms or your use of the Site and Tools.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

For material changes that affect your subscription or rights, we will notify you by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Mexico, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in New Mexico.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full effect.
